New CMA (AAMA)s: Check the list of NEWLY CERTIFIED CMA (AAMA) from January 2009. Because of psychometric needs, the exam was not given in February and March 2009 and returned in April 2009 with immediate scoring. Newly certified CMA (AAMA) for April 2009 will soon be posted.

EMPLOYER VERIFICATION: Employers may verify the current status of their employees CMA (AAMA) credentials through the AAMA site, selecting the employer tab at the top and selecting “Verify employee CMA (AAMA) status", entering either the SS Number or the employee's Certification ID number off their certification card. Employers may still submit the form via email for verification.

IN OTHER NATIONAL NEWS: Oregon: we will be keeping our eyes on Oregon in the next few months as they are attempting to pass legislation that would differentiate scope of practice between a CMA (AAMA) and a non-CMA (AAMA). Depending on the outcome, it may be something that California will want to discuss as an option in our state. Stay Tuned!

Georgia State Society of Medical Assistants has won a victory in George. Amendments signed into law clarify and protect the authority of physicians to delegate to medical assistants.
