This is your opportunity to obtain CEUs for recertification, learning more about your profession and its status in California, network with your leaders and colleagues to find answers to your questions and forming your own professional network. We are here for you and your CSMA leaders are working hard to provide and protect medical assisting in California. There will be 14 CEUs. The Edgar Palarea Award will be selected at this meeting. CSMA will pay up to $300 toward your meeting expenses if you attend all business/educational sessions and write a report for our web site.

March 31, 2019 (2 CEU's) 9:00-10:00 am Exploring Dyslexia as a Type of Neurodiversity;In this session, you will learn the brain base of dyslexia, including exploration of the reading brain and how the dyslexic brain differs from that of normal readers. Additionally, you will find out about signs and symptoms of dyslexia in children and adults, and how this language based learning disorder can impact the individual outside of academics. CMA (AAMA) Status All CMAs (AAMA) must have current status to use the credential, including for qualifying to enter orders for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.
NEW Recertification Policy Change 4/2018 The time limit for recertifying the CMA (AAMA) credential by continuing education: Recertification by Continuing Education Time Limit.Effective January 1, 2020, an individual whose credential has been expired for more than three months forfeits the right to reactivate the credential by continuing education and must sit for the CMA (AAMA) Certification/Recertification Examination.
Candidates are allowed three attempts to pass the exam. If the candidate does not pass on the third attempt, the candidate is no longer eligible for the exam or to recertify the CMA (AAMA) credential.
Requirements for Recertification To recertify your CMA (AAMA) credential by continuing education, a total of 60 recertification points are required across the following categories:
30 from any combination of general, administrative, and clinical
Remember, at least 30 of your 60 recertification points must be accumulated from AAMA approved CEUs.
