CSMA Delegates
CSMA Delegate(s) are voted upon by the General Assembly at the CSMA Annual Spring Meeting. Any additional delegate(s) are elected depending on the allotted amount given by AAMA notifies the State Society of the number of delegates/votes they’re entitled to for the upcoming HOD, based on the total number of members with current dues paid membership as of December 31st of the previous year before the annual meeting which
is based on California's membership roster. The First Delegate is the CSMA President and the Second Delegate is the CSMA Vice President. Any additional delegate(s) are elected depending on the allotted amount given by AAMA before the annual meeting which is based on California's membership roster. A Delegate(s) serves a 1 year term, (from the beginning of the HOD until the beginning of the next year's HOD, participates in the AAMA House of Delegates, attend events at the national conference as assigned by the CSMA President, and writes a report describing their activities at the conference.

Edgar Palarea Award Recipient

The Edgar Palarea Award was first established in Spring of 1998. The award is in honor of the late Edgar Palarea, M.D. Dr. Palarea maintained a private practice in cardiology and Internal Medicine in Long Beach for over 30 years. He was a National Advisor to the American Association of Medical Assistants and past president of the Long Beach Lung Association, Long Beach Heart Association, and the Long Beach Medical Association. Dr. Palarea served CSMA as its physician-advisor from 1982 to the time of his passing. Edgar Palarea Award Recipient (Offered only at Spring in-person meetings) is a random drawing to one member who attends all portions of the meeting and will have partial meeting expenses paid.
