President’s Message #1
May 2024
This member was nominated at the CSMA Annual Meeting, held on April 19 and 20, 2024. I am proud to serve as president for 2024-2025. The Annual meeting this year was one of the smallest with about 17 participants. The meeting was held via Zoom and had several new attendees. The Executive Committee is very happy to have 3 new volunteers to assist on Committees. We also had a newly certified CMA (AAMA) participate and became a member of AAMA/ CSMA during the meeting!
The last year has been very difficult for the CSMA Executive Committee. We have endured medical challenges and lost many loved ones. Your Executive Committee worked and supported each other and banded together to keep the association going and support our members as much as possible. We had many challenges and had to make several very difficult decisions. There was much discussion and counsel with AAMA and at the end we had to abide by the CSMA Bylaws which is the binding framework of the organization.
I commend the Executive Committee and give thanks for their continued support:

Free AAMA CEU-Women and Alcohol: Prevalence, Trends, and Preventing Alcohol-Related Harm (aama-ntl.org)
CMA today is now- Medical Assisting TodayAAMA E UPDATE- You can now upload non-AAMA CEUs at any time during their certification period!
In conclusion, CSMA needs CPR! We need to be resuscitated. In CPR everyone has a role, when one person gets tired, another person steps in. Team members have a role no matter how big or small it is. There is a plan before an emergency happens. CSMA needs a plan.

- CSMA to become stronger as an organization and increase our membership. Currently we have 353 members.
- Have an in person Annual Meeting in Northern California. If you are available, please join the Committee to help plan or help day of the meeting.
- Needs for this year: Members to participate. This is your organization. The Virtual CEU Committee will do as much as possible, but we need ideas, especially if we continue to provide “free” CEUs for this year!
- Southwest Regional Meeting-Oklahoma- CSMA President and Vice President Attending
- AAMA- National Meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan- Three Delegates and 1 Alternate Delegate are attending.
